On January 22, 2024, Saprea is holding the first-ever Saprea Golf Classic Presented by Target River to raise funds for its fight against child sexual abuse. During the tournament hosted at Topgolf Vineyard, teams will enjoy competing on the iconic Pebble Beach golf course from the luxury of Topgolf bays.

Saprea is the nonprofit leading the charge against child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts. By participating in the tournament, those attending will help provide services vital to the healing of survivors and the protection of children worldwide.

“The Saprea Golf Classic is the latest in our efforts to bring awareness and support to the essential services that we are providing,” says Chris Yadon, Saprea’s Managing Director. “Child sexual abuse is a pervasive issue that affects people all around us. Participation in this tournament is just one way that individuals, businesses, and our community can show their support for the survivors in their lives.”

Millions of children each year will be sexually abused before they turn 18. Many of these children go on to experience the traumatic effects of this abuse well into adulthood. Survivors are three times more likely than the general population to attempt suicide, five times more likely to be hospitalized for a physical or mental health problem, and 40% more likely to drop out of high school.

Saprea provides a variety of free services to assist survivors on their path of healing. Participants in one of their most popular services, the Saprea Retreat, experience on average a 45% improvement of life satisfaction, a 37% reduction of post-traumatic stress, and a 19% higher efficacy to cope with their traumatic experience after attending.

Other healing tools offered to survivors include the Saprea Healing Webinar, Saprea Support Groups, and a vast collection of online resources. In addition to promoting healing, Saprea also provides community education and preventative resources for parents, caregivers, and community members who wish to protect the children around them from child sexual abuse. “One common misconception about child sexual abuse is that there is nothing we can do to stop it. Saprea needs people to know that that is not true,” says Yadon. “Child sexual abuse is preventable. Healing from abuse is possible. We hope that bringing the community together in this tournament will inspire conversations that lead to lasting change in our society.”
